1st March 2017
Today, Government of the Slovak Republic has approved the National Action Plan to the Population and Housing Census 2021 for years 2017-2020. Hereby the Government officially agreed with changing method of conduction the one of the most demanding statistical survey coordinated by the Eurostat and the United Nations Organisation. Follow this fundamental change Statistical Office of the SR plans to reduce administrative burden on population and maintain the quality of census data.
Recent analyses have shown that the optimal model for the Census 2021 is an integrated census. In the Slovak Republic, this kind of census will enable the maximal usage of data from selected registers and administrative sources combined with data obtained from the population.
Preparation of integrated census is, unlike the previous traditional censuses, more demanding. Data in the administrative sources and registers are collected for other than statistical purposes. This kind of data will be used in the census only if they meet internationally accepted statistical criteria. Statistical Office of the SR wants to achieve it by partnership cooperation with administrators of the selected registers and administrative data sources. Approved National Action Plan also foresees greater participation of ministries, other central bodies of state administration, organizations within their jurisdiction and self-government in preparation of census. It mainly covers areas and activities in preparation of census which require cooperation with administrators of registers, administrative data sources and other external entities.
